HARC initiative aims to curb mobile addiction among rural students
Latur, March 17
In a bid to cultivate reading habits among students in rural areas and reduce the growing impact of mobile addiction, the Homeopathic Academy of Research and Charities (HARC), Parbhani based local NGO, run by Dr Pawan Chandak, has launched the ‘Anandi Vachan Peti’ initiative in Latur district.
At a programme held at the Zilla Parish Primary School in Murud Akola in Latur tehsil, six Zilla Parishad schools in the district were provided with an ‘Anandi Vachan Peti’a box containing 80 books each—through public participation.
The reading kits include a diverse collection of storybooks, poetry, biographies of great personalities and scientists, as well as books in Marathi, Hindi, and English, aimed at nurturing a love for reading among students.
On the occasion, HARC representatives also guided students on the harmful effects of excessive mobile usage. Students were encouraged to limit screen time, develop the habit of reading for at least an hour daily, and cultivate the practice of writing and expressing what they read. The initiative also emphasized adopting 30 good habits for overall personality and character development.
HARC informed that, through public participation, it has so far distributed ‘Anandi Vachan Peti’ kits to as many as 191 Zilla Parishad schools across districts including Sambhajinagar, Nanded, Latur, Jalna, Hingoli, Parbhani, Beed, Pune, Nashik, and Washim.
