Carved caves discoveed on the hill of Janwal village Researchers Dr Madhavi Mahake and Krishna Gudade claimed Vinod Chavan Latur, Dec 24 A remote village, Janwal in Chakur tehsil in the Latur district, is associated with a new chapter in the history of the village. However, history researchers Dr Madhavi Mahake and Krishna Gudade claimed to have been found carved caves on the hill of Jamwal village located in Balaghat mountain range. There is no record of this cave anywhere. In fact, these caves were unknown in the architectural history of Latur, researchers said. At a distance of 1 km from the village, there is an island hill known as Shadul Island hill. This is because the hill station, which is the abode of ascetics in the caves, is very remote and forested. Latur Nagar Panchayat polls conducted peacefully; 208 candidates in fray Latur, Dec 21 General elections were held for 52 seats in four Nagar Panchayats of Latur district, Chakur, Jalkot, Deoni and Shiroor Anantpal. However, a total of 208 candidates were in the fray for the election. The polling was conducted peacefully at 62 polling stations on Tuesday and the nagar panchayat polls registered a total of 76.85 per cent turnout till the last report came in on Tuesday. A total of 25 thousand 213 voters exercised their right to vote. Of those, 13 thousand 324 male and 11 thousand 889 female voters. Due to stay on OBC's political reservation, elections were not held for 16 seats. As the election for these seats will be held on January 18, all the counting of votes will be conducted on January 19, said polling department.
